【摘要】:Thegelcontent(insolublefraction)producedinethyleneplasticsbycrosslinkingcanbedeterminedbyextractingwithsolventssuchasdecahydronaphthaleneorxylenes.Suchextractiontestmethodsaredescribedherein.Theyareapplicabletocrosslinkedethyleneplasticsofalldensities,includingthosecontainingfillers,andallprovidecorrectionsfortheinertfillerspresentinsomeofthosecompounds.TestMethodA,whichpermitsmostcompleteextractioninleasttime,istobeusedforrefereetests,buttwoalternativenonrefereeTestMethodsBandCarealsodescribed.Thefirstofthesediffersfromtherefereetestmethodonlyinsamplepreparation;thatis,itrequiresuseofshavingstakenatselectedpointsincableinsulation,forexample,ratherthanthegroundsamplerequiredbytherefereetestmethod.Becausetheshavedparticlesarelarger,lesstotalsurfacepersampleisexposedtotheextractant,sothistestmethodordinarilyyieldsextractionvaluesabout1to2%lowerthantherefereemethod.Thesecondofthealternativetestmethodsrequiresthataspecimeninonepiecebeextractedinxylenesataconstanttemperatureof110C.Atthistemperatureandwithaone-piecespecimen,evenlessextractionoccurs(from3to9%lessthantherefereetestmethod)butswellratio(ameasureofthedegreeofcrosslinkinginthegelphase)canbedetermined.Extractiontestscanbemadeonarticlesofanyshape.Theyhavebeenparticularlyusefulforelectricalinsulationssincespecimensmaybeselectedfromthoseportionsoftheinsulationmostsusceptibletoinsufficientcrosslinking.ThevaluesstatedinSIunitsaretoberegardedasstandard.Theinch-poundunitsinbracketsareforinformationonly.ISO10147issimilartothistest,butisnotequivalent.Thisstandarddoesnotpurporttoaddressallofthesafetyconcerns,ifany,associatedwithitsuse.Itistheresponsibilityoftheuserofthisstandardtoestablishappropriatesafetyandhealthpracticesanddeterminetheapplicabilityofregulatorylimitationspriortouse.SpecificprecautionarystatementsaregiveninSections,,and.
